This listed property is around 150
years old, it is light and airy and has three
bedrooms, two with views over the sea. There is gas central heating. The start
of the Cornish coastal footpath is five minutes away, giving direct access
to the wonderful northern Cornish coastline.
Downstairs there is a pleasant sitting room with settees, a Victorian fire
place with gas
fire, a radiator and colour TV. There is a good sized
attractive open-plan well-equipped kitchen/dining area with a gas cooker,
fridge-freezer, microwave and a large table seating six. The kitchen
window overlooks an old courtyard containing Porthmeor Studios and some
old fisherman's lofts.
There is also an airing cupboard in the kitchen. The downstairs
bathroom has a WC, wash-hand-basin, a bath with an efficient shower built
over it and a wall mounted electric fan heater.
Halfway up the staircase leading to the bedrooms, there is a cloakroom with a WC and wash-hand basin. A large skylight lights the stairway. On the top floor there are three bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has a comfortable double bed and is an ideal room in which to sit and admire the sea views. Bedroom 2 has a single bed, wonderful sea views and wardrobe space for all the family. Bedroom 3 is a pleasant and spacious room with a double bed and another single bed. There is a small radio in the house. As with the majority of houses in the harbour area of St. Ives, the house doesn't have a garden, so I regret it cannot take pets.
Hot water is heated electrically and a coin meter using £1 coins is in operation for all electricity (approx. £6 - £8 is ample for a weeks stay). Guests need to bring their own duvet covers (duvets are provided), sheets, pillowcases (pillows are provided), bath, hand and tea towels.
Unless by prior arrangement, normal occupation is from Saturday to Saturday with arrival after 4.00pm and departure by 10.00am. Cars can be pulled in opposite to unload. Then use one of the town's nearby car parks, there are two near the Tate Gallery and another, the Island carpark, is a few minutes walk away. Out of season, and sometimes even during high season, it is possible to park in Porthmeor Square which is just across from the front of the house. For visitors not wishing to travel by car, St Ives is reached by regular Inter-City and local train services via St Erth. The coastal line to St Ives has spectacular sea views. A good local bus service provides easy connections to other local towns.
Available on a weekly basis throughout the year, also available for early Spring, late Autumn and winter weekend breaks. Non smoking guests preferred.
